The Questions:

What do you hope to gain from blogging?

I just want to get my work out there and hopefully build new readers and friendships in the process. Until blogging, i feel my work just sat there unseen for the most part. Now I’m able to share what I do on an almost daily basis.

What genre of film entertains you the most?

I have varied film interests, but i really am crazy about Italian horror films from the 80’s, especially the work of Dario Argento. Suspiria is one of my favorite films ever. The visuals and atmosphere alone will creep you out, and the music just adds to it.

I also love classics like To Kill A Mockingbird and Wizard Of Oz.

Do you consider yourself a writer, and what inspires you to write?

Yes, I am a writer. I self published my first book, and it was inspired by the place i worked at the time. Normally however, i draw inspiration from just about everywhere, beginning with music. A perfect song can get the creative juices flowing.

Why did you choose your particular WordPress username?

I use my own name as my username. I believe in keeping it real 😉 I named my blog, Paul Writes, because i wanted it simple and to say what it was I was trying to do with my blog. Made sense, you know.

What is your favourite book, and why does it speak to you?

I don’t know if i have a real favorite, but one of my most read books is “Wicked” by Gregory Macguire. His Oz series is freaking amazing on so many levels.

What is your favourite song, and why does it speak to you?

This is like the impossible question. I have so many favorites depending on my mood and genre I’m listening to. With that said, been listening to a lot of 80’s music, because my NaNoWriMo project is set then. One of my favorites from that era is “Alive and Kicking” by Simple Minds.

What is your favourite photograph, and why does it speak to you?

My favorite photo is of my wife and I sitting on the edge of a rock overhang shortly after we first met. The look on our faces speaks to me so much, as it seems to capture the newness of first love. Whenever I’m writing characters that become couples it’s the model I use 🙂
